Thuru Lodge Private Game Reserve forms part of the Kalahari, consisting of approximately 10,000 hectares. 

The Game Reserve has a very unique variety of vegetation types, which broadly classified into Nama Karoo, Kalahari and Karoo Mountain vegetation. 

Thuru Lodge is home to an abundance of wildlife which is native to South Africa.

Some animals that can expect to find are Sable, Roan, the “Desert Warrior” Gemsbok, Giraffe, Herds of common Springbuck also there are the three other colour phases available White, Copper and Black. 

There are not many locations where all four colour phases can be found in one location. Cape buffalo asl also on the property.

 Thuru Lodge is located in the Northern Cape Province approximately 100 km southeast of the town Upington, or 320 kilometres north of Kimberley. 

The Northern Cape is the safest region in South Africa and is also malaria free.

Clients will be met by our lodge personnel your Kalahari experience begins 10km before reaching the town Grobblershoop, when we leave the tarmac road for the last 10 minutes’ journey before reaching ‘Thuru Lodge’. For the utmost convenience you can fly by charter plane direct to Thuru. A luxury vehicle will take you to a friendly welcome at the lodge.

The lodge boast of 8 luxurious air-conditioned double rooms with ensuites bathrooms, TV and internet, and under floor heating.

The rainy season is generally from December until mid April.

Vaccinations:

Vaccinations: Tetanus-diphtheria vaccine is recommended for all travellers who have not received a tetanus-diphtheria immunization within the last 10 years.

Malaria: Our hunting area and the concessions are Malaria free.
