CAMP STAFF AND CAMP CHIEFS

  • WELCOME TO ELAND SAFARIS

Picture this: It's early morning in Africa, and you, have been tracking a Kudu bull for hours. You can sense you're getting closer, guided by fresh dung and broken twigs along the trail. The hunter freezes, hearing the faint noise of the bull picking fresh leaves from a Mopani tree, unaware of your presence. Slowly, you inch closer for a better shot, taking careful aim. Your finger squeezes the trigger, and the shot rings out in the morning sun.

That's the exhilaration of an African hunt, and that's exactly what they want you to experience at Eland Safaris.

Eland Safaris professional hunters are committed to helping you obtain your trophies in a sportsmanlike and ethical manner. They will expose you to the widest variety of game species, landscapes, and habitats in all of Africa. With their years of experience in the African bush, our dedicated professional hunters will guide you to your dream trophy. We have many references to prove our expertise and success in providing unforgettable hunting experiences.

Hunting season at Eland Safaris runs throughout the year, but we recommend the months of March to October. Each hunt is meticulously planned to suit your personal requirements, whether you're the hunter or a non-hunting observer.

A typical hunting day starts at the crack of dawn with a small breakfast. Then, you and your professional hunter will venture out to one of our well-managed concession areas or private ranches, where you'll spend the morning hunting. Depending on the hunting area and the game you're after, you may spend the entire day out, in which case we'll provide a lunch box and plenty of refreshments. If you don't stay out the whole day, we'll have a brunch around 11 am, followed by a quick siesta. The afternoon hunt begins as soon as you're ready.

They understand that each client has unique preferences and strive to cater to your individual needs. While they can make recommendations, the final decision on hunting methods rests with you. Our preferred method is to use one of our well-equipped hunting vehicles until we spot the trophy, we're after, and then make a stalk. With 36 species on their trophy list, it's essential that they know your priority animals, as not all species naturally occur in all hunting areas. Please note that traveling may be required for some species.  At Eland Safaris, they are dedicated to providing an unforgettable hunting experience that combines adventure, respect for the environment, and the thrill of the hunt. Join them for an extraordinary safari and create lasting memories in the African wilderness.

  • HUNTING AREA:

    ELAND SAFARIS – Rifle

For rifle hunting, Eland Safaris recommends using a minimum .30 calibre rifle with a 3 to 9 variable scope for all Plains Game.

A high-quality soft nose cartridge, such as a Swift A-frame or Woodleigh, weighing at least 180 grains, is recommended. For dangerous game, a .375 calibre or larger rifle with a compact scope and high-quality swing-off mounts is recommended. Soft nose ammunition is advised for small cats, while for Cape Buffalo, bring a good supply of high-quality soft nose cartridges as well as solids.

For Elephant, Rhino, and Hippo, use only solids. It's crucial to use a rifle that you feel comfortable with and have used successfully in the past.

If you prefer, they offer rifle rentals to eliminate the hassle of transporting a rifle on the plane.

The Hunting at Eland Safaris is from the Middle of April to the Middle of October with rifle hunting, there doesn't seem to be a specific best time, however, the more time you spend in the bush, the luckier you will be.

For bow/crossbow hunting, the later part of the season is better, as water is scarce, and you will do a lot of your hunting over waterholes.

Vaccinations: Tetanus-diphtheria vaccine is recommended for all travellers who have not received a tetanus-diphtheria immunization within the last 10 years.
