Timkulu Safaris
OUTFITTER:
Fanus Greyling was born and raised on a farm on the banks of the Vaal River. His pursuits of feathers and fur began as soon as he could hold a gun. He has a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture and an Honours and Masters degree in Wildlife Management.
When not hunting, shooting or fishing with clients his hobbies are, apart from reading - hunting, shooting and fishing. Apart from their vast concession areas covering more than 200 000 hectares throughout Southern Africa, Timkulu Safaris owns its own game ranch with stunning vistas and boasting 16 species.
HUNTING AREA:
Timkulu is situated in the far north west of the Northern Cape and one of its specialties is driven Guinea Fowl and Frankolin shoots. Up to twelve species of game bird can be taken in one day – all wild. The shooting is normally fast, with the wide variety of birds coming in at different flight speeds and heights, making for some challenging shooting. Pigeons and doves are flighted and shot from butts. Dogs are used on our shoots to ensure all wounded birds are found. For Sandgrouse shoots you move North to the Kalahari desert. These birds offer incredible shooting, with hundreds of birds jinking and dashing over your butt, resulting in some of the highest adrenaline rushes and barrel temperatures in the shooting world.
ACCOMMODATION:
Timkulu is a serenely isolated stone lodge (parts date back to the 1800’s)
where you can experience nature literally on your door step. Not to disturb the tranquil and serene ambience, they refuse to put in electricity. Water is heated by gas, and light supplied by lanterns. Jennifer Greyling’s standards of attention to detail and food would be the pride of many fine hotels. Many dishes will involve the the use of game.
