Timkulu Safaris

OUTFITTER :

Your hosts are Fanus and Jennifer Greyling. Fanus was born and raised on a farm on the banks of the Vaal River in central South Africa. His pursuit of feather and fur began as soon as he could hold a gun.

Later in life he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Agriculture from the University of the Free State, a Honours degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Pretoria and later a Masters degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Pretoria.

A love of what he does and never letting go of ethical principles, honesty and integrity have brought him far. When not hunting, shooting or fishing with clients his hobbies are (apart from reading), well ... hunting, shooting and fishing.

Jennifer keeps things together during the hectic hunting season with the wisdom only women can muster. She loves conjuring up delicious dishes for their clients, and her game fare is becoming legendary.

HUNTING AREA:

Apart from our vast concession covering more than 200 000 hectares throughout Southern Africa, Timkulu Safaris owns its own game ranch with beautiful scenery.

When starting out eleven years ago Fanus went through great lengths to introduce game of superior quality, resulting in exceptional trophies taken home by hunters. On our own land, or in our concession areas, every conceivable species of Southern African antelope can be found, thus being able to offer clients a wide variety of species to choose from. Even the Big Five.

Our own game ranch boasts sixteen species, including Cape Buffalo, Greater Kudu, Gemsbuck or Oryx, Blesbuck, Steenbuck, Red Hartebeest, Black Wildebeest or White tailed gnu, Duiker, Giraffe, Impala, Waterbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Springbuck, Ostrich, Hartmann Mountain Zebra and Warthog.

To hunt species not occurring on our land, traveling will be necessary. All road travel is included in the cost of your safari

ACCOMMODATION:

Fanus and Jennifer Greyling, will accommodate you in their serenely isolated stone lodge, where you can experience nature literally on your doorstep. The lodge has all the comforts of home, and each room has en suite bathrooms. Not to disturb the tranquil and serene ambience, we refuse to put in electricity. Water is heated by gas, and light supplied by lanterns and previously charged battery lights. The characteristic lodge is built from stone with walls three feet thick, and large parts of it date back to the late eighteenth century. Consequently an intriguing history and tales evolved around this special place, not the least being the effect the discovery of diamonds and the Anglo Boer War had on the history of South Africa. We are right amidst everything. Various day trips can be arranged for non-hunters, or hunters choosing a day of rest.

Jennifer’s standards of attention to detail and food would be the pride of many fine hotels. Many dishes will involve the the use of game.
