Game Hunters Africa (Cameroon)
OUTFITTER:
Mark and Paula Haldane started Game Hunters Africa in 1986 and slowly built it up to where it is today. Assisted by a great team, they have a remarkable 86% repeat clientele. Game Hunters Africa have now expanded into Cameroon, joining up with well known outfitter, "Mayo Oldiri Safaris", for two kinds of Africa hunts; Forest and Savannah.
Mark Haldane has guided in all of southern Africa’s countries as well as Canada, Romania and Australia. Highlights of his career have been a 47 inch Buffalo, 80lb. Elephant, 18.5 inch Bushbuck, as well as the #1 Suni and Red Duiker with a handgun.
HUNTING AREA:
17 species are on offer in the savannah regions of the north including the coveted Lord Derby Eland and the elusive Bongo.
14 species are on offer in the rainforests plus the opportunity to hunt with the Bako Pygmies – remarkable trackers and a fascinating nation.
Cameroon is also known for its large variety of antelopes including Roan Antelope, Western Hartebeest, Buffon’s Kob, Defassa Waterbuck, Bohor Reedbuck, Harnessed Busbuck, Orebi and various varieties of Duikers. Quality of trophies in both rainforest and savannah are outstanding.
ACCOMMODATION:
Five savannah camps: ‘Mayo Oldiri’, ‘Mayo Nduell’, ‘Mayo Vaimba’, ‘Rey Bouba’ and ‘Djibao’. Five forest camps: 'Boumba North', 'Boumba South', 'Dja', 'Lognia' and 'Lokomo'.
Boumba North: This large concession has three well equipped camps (North, West and South), it also has very large number of Bongos of the highest quality, as well as excellent Forest Elephant trophies. Furthermore, "The Boumba" forest concession accounts for 40 % of the total amount of licences granted by the Cameroon Government to hunt Dwarf Buffalo and Forest Sitatungas. Because of "The Boumba" Forest having been a completely isolated and remote area, there is an abundant diversity of animals. Therefore, there are excellent numbers of all kinds of Duikers, Bates Pygmy Antelope, Bush Pig, as well as the secretive and desirable Giant Forest Hog.
Great for sitatunga, elephant and the best area we have for buffalo and duikers. This area has some tracks, so it’s possible to use the car for the hunt.
Mayo Oldiri: Located between two National Parks: "Bouba Njida" and “La Benoue", it was our first camp and the biggest one we have in savannah. Perfect area for eland on mid season and the best one we have for buffalo and antelopes; thousands of cobs there.
