Ngahere Game Ranch is a private game bird reserve based in central South Island of New Zealand. Owned and operated by your hosts Bruce and Mieke Flett.
Situated 6km from Waimate township, Ngahere Game Ranch is the only large game estate to be fully licensed as a game bird preserve in New Zealand giving wingshooters the opportunity to hunt pheasant, guinea fowl, bobtail quail, turkey and red leg partridge to compliment the abundant duck and goose populations in the area. A large number of pheasants are released annually, guaranteeing excellent shooting for the game bird enthusiast.
All upland game bird hunts are 'walk up shoots' using trained gun dogs to flush the birds from cover to gun.
Waterfowl hunts are offered for various species of duck, Canadian geese, black swan and pukeko. Bird hunting in New Zealand is seasonal. The main season is May - August inclusive.
Ngahere Game Ranch utilises quality local accommodation. Meals are catered for at Ngahere, where Mieke, renowned for her cooking, will provide for you home made traditional New Zealand style dishes and game meats to 'tantalise your taste buds.'
